Youthline Central South Island

We run a 24/7 free helpline, free workshops in schools, opportunities for volunteering, and resources for your wellbeing or to get involved in your community.

Youthline Central South Island supports Rangatahi across the top half of Te Wai Pounamu, from Waitaki to Tasman Districts.

We are a registered Charity and started in 1970. We support young people’s development. We provide a 24/7 helpline, peer support, online mentoring, and mental health first aid training for young people.

We have four centres; Ōtautahi-Christchurch, Tasman-Nelson, Wairau-Marlborough, and Timaru.

We are a volunteer led charity with 60 volunteers, and a small support staff. We encourage young people to be involved and lead in our communities.

We have networked our helpline with the other independent Youthlines around the country. This increases our collective impact and provides a national service.

Volunteer With Us

Help others. We’ll train you up and support you to make a difference. Volunteer for the helpline, workshops, or fundraising events. We welcome, support, and train volunteers to staff the helpline, train young people, mentor others, and govern the organisation. We are looking for helpline counsellors, and training presenters in schools.

Support Our Work

We welcome and appreciate groups running fundraising events for our young people. Run a fundraising event such as a mufti day, market, raffle, cake stall, or an auction.  Or even setting up a gift in your will. Let us know what you plan to do, and if we can help with resources, such as our fundraising kit with buckets, T-shirts and Youthline information.
